Dreams interest me. Mine are often vivid and offer clues to my daily life and direction. The dream state is a time when the body, and sometimes the mind, is quiet. Could we be open to the voices of the universe in a dream state? Is practice necessary to capture those fleeting stories and thoughts that arise in sleep before they dissolve on waking?
I’ve journaled my dreams for years and take time regularly to consider the emotions, circumstances, and details of each. In early 2022, my dream opened with me dressing for a party. A large campaign-like button on my dress displayed the cover of my book, I’m Dying to Tell You, and my photo as author. When I arrived at the party, I realized that it was a book singing event for my newly published book. I felt the joy and excitement for its release and was pleased to share it with the guests. The dream allowed me to anchor the feeling of completion and success. It was a year and three months later in July of 2023 that the book was published. Dreams are often symbolic, metaphoric, or subconscious cues that can shift our life’s trajectory.
Dreams are a curiosity, a question, and a speculation rolled into one. Can dreams direct us? Could a vision of a future conversation be constructed? Do we travel in dreams, leave our bodies? Can we visit with those who have passed? These questions and more are ones I think about each time I remember a dream and attempt to unravel it. For me, dreamtime opens doors to endless adventures. What adventures await you in dreamtime?

You’ve just inspired me to tune in a bit more to my dreams and possibly even start journaling dreams. Thank you Kate. Always a pleasure to read your articles

Thanks Kate, I enjoy looking at my dreams as well. Recently, my dream was of a person no longer a friend yet there she was with her voice repeatedly calling my name. I was at an event and she clearly wanted to speak with me. In the dream, I considered interacting with her to say we are no longer friends. Instead, I chose to shut the door of the event and not say a word. When I awoke, it was a nice knowing that it is resolved.
