On a Saturday, three weeks ago, my husband asked me what I’d like to do for my birthday later in the year. It’s a big birthday, and he thought we could start making plans. Without hesitation, I playfully blurted out, “I want to go to Disneyland!” My energetic outburst surprised me, and my husband laughed encouragingly. I called a good friend whose sister is a Disney travel agent to set plans in motion for June or July. She asked, “What are you doing Monday? I caught my breath and considered my calendar. She urged, “Be spontaneous. We’re there next week. Fly down.” I turned to my husband. He nodded in agreement. Can dreams manifest that quickly? Yes, they can!
My friend and her sister met me at the airport. They’d made hotel reservations, purchased park tickets for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and arranged a few surprises. This was the Magic Kingdom, and it was magic. Three full days of play: Tea with Mini Mouse, rides on Mr. Toad, Indiana Jones, and the Incredicoaster. I said yes to it all!
I returned home grateful for good friends, their generosity and love, and for saying, “Yes.” Joyful play makes my heart sing. What makes your heart sing?

From Lucinda: It won’t be just one thing that makes my heart sing because I can go on and on with a list such as that: the first snow fall of the season, kisses from my dogs, the smell of coffee in the morning, doing something special for someone and not letting them or anyone else know about it, babies…..all babies…..human and animal, an unexpected gift, watching a flower from bud to full bloom. So many, many more.
